Beyond Greens: Flavours of Trinidad & Tobago

Travel, Update

Chow made with pomme cythere. Chow is a sort of fruit salad that is actually savoury and spicy. It can also be made with pineapple, mango, plums, etc.

Last month, my friend Namita and I had the chance to visit the stunning Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago. It was one of those random trips you don’t really plan for but just happen. The opportunity presented itself; we joked about it over a drink, and next thing we knew our tickets were booked and we were on our way without having researched much about the country. Interestingly, it turned out to be one of the best vacations I’ve had.

Lucky for us, some amazing people showed us great hospitality, making this trip truly carefree and pleasurable. We got to experience the best of T&T: Its vibrant culture and friendly people, incredibly tasty foods, and mind-blowing landscapes.

Scroll down and drool over the flavours of Trinidad & Tobago.

The famous street food “doubles”. Fried flat breads topped with channa, chutney and pepper sauce.

More street food, pholourie: balls of pea flour fried and served with chutney.
